Institution

Louvation was born as a Band in August 2007 at Nossa Senhora Aparecida Church, in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Catholic Music Ministry

Eight members of the youth group JOBUC (Young Brazilians United in Christ) music ministry received a call after participating in the Fifth Summer Retreat: that of forming a Band to perform in local catholic events.

Like the individuals, who are from different nationalities, the Band would serve communities of different languages and cultures, proclaiming the word of God and singing songs of praise and adoration.

Bruno Ghislandi, Eder Cardoso, Elyr Oliveira, Jomar Cavalcanti, Nicholas Martins, Renan Nunes, Tamara Capucci and Makyra Nunes came together and began to rehearse in Bruno's garage. The eclectic selection aimed at the biggest number of young adults possible. After a month, the newly formed Catholic Music Ministry performed for the first time as Louvation in the Post Summer Retreat that took place in San Isidro Church of Pompano Beach.

The band was named in a planning lunch meeting of the ministry. They thought about combining a Portuguese word with an English word as many Brazilians living in the United States do. The mixture would also illustrate the multicultural approach of the band. One of the members, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said Louvation: Louvor (praise in Portuguese) and Adoration. The name was immediately accepted. Coincidently, or not, it also fit with the group because the members fooled around nicknaming each other with the suffix – ation: Tamaration, Makyration, Renanzantion, etc.

The first original song, titled Misterio de Amor (Mystery of Love), was created in November 2007 and won the nomination for best composition in the Catholic Music Festival in Ft. Myers.

A Catholic Youth Mission

The Louvation Mission started with the Band's ever growing desire to spread the word of Jesus. Although their music was touching lives, they wanted to evangelize more and in others ways too. The change from Catholic Music Ministry to Catholic Youth Mission happened in April 2010, almost three years after the Louvation Band was formed.

Louvation, as a Catholic Youth Mission, works to make Jesus the center of young people's lives. Our tripod is Praise, Adoration and Testimony. We believe that by promoting appealing activities around people of faith who seek the same wants and needs, we can promote encounters between Jesus and the individual. And only an encounter with Jesus can bring meaning and everlasting happiness to a person's life.

To achieve this goal, the Louvation Mission created different groups and projects: music, acting, dancing, sports, visits to hospitals, visits to prisons, recycling, events, etc. All of which are open for anyone who wants to take part in them.

We count on everybody's help to make this Mission possible.

Your prayers are always welcomed and needed too!

Our mission statement

Jesus is for all and needs to be delivered to all in all places. Thus, our work prioritizes the youth, for the strengthening of our future, generating hearts of hope for a new tomorrow full of life, love and peace.
