Faith and Science

faitubook
When we speak of faith and science we usually see them as entirely different subjects, which is not true. Faith and science are more related than we think! Blessed John Paul II once said, "Faith and reason are the two wings on which the human spirit soars to contemplate the fact". How profound are these words! When I imagine these wings, I think of a bird that cannot rise on only one. Both wings need to be synchronized in order to fly. The same is the human mind that cannot contemplate the truth if faith and reason are not in harmony!

There are many who do not believe in the existence of God and rely on scientific facts to explain why. With only a few facts in hand, they say that the Bible is merely a book of novels. Many of these people are graduates in medicine, physics, biology and so on, but they di not study theology. Thus, some have arrived at conclusions such as thinking the Earth was flat and the sun revolved around it! That's why the Catholic Church has a group of scholars that study the scriptures. Furthermore, our faith is not only supported by the scriptures, but also in Tradition, in the catechism, the code of canon law and in various encyclicals.

Evolutionism or Creationism?

Evolution Against Creation
I've heard many people say that religions become unsustainable when you have a good scientific knowledge; that it is impossible to take the Catholic faith seriously with the new discoveries of science, especially concerning the origin of man, because you cannot deny the evolution of species, etc.

Wait a minute... Who is trying to deny what? Who said that there is a conflict between science and faith, and who said that the Bible was meant to be interpreted literally? The barrier between faith and science only exists in people's minds.

Sainthood, What is it?

Sainthood
If you don't live in a Catholic environment, you probably don't hear much about saints, and if you do, it is in a wrong sense.

To be a saint is, above all, to be true to someone greater than us all, God. Jesus himself said, "Be holy as your heavenly Father is holy" (Matt 5:48).

But how can we be as holy as God?

When Jesus left this teaching, he simply asked us to be faithful to the Father, following his own example for our salvation. To be holy is to be truthful, humble and faithful to the mother Church.

The Root Of All Evils – Part II

7-sins
Continuing the last formation article, we'll now take a look at the other 4 capital sins.

Wrath

Wrath is also known as anger or rage. It was created by God to be used against the devil and against sin. We, however, use it against our brothers and sisters in most cases. The holy fathers had already said that anger is the sin that mostly makes us like the devil.

When not used as a virtue of God, it becomes a deadly sin. But how do we cure ourselves of making bad use of it? Use it against what separate us from God and never to hate our neighbor. An example of anger as a heavenly virtue is when Jesus expels from the temple those who were doing trade in the house of his father.

Capital Sins - The Root of All Addictions

Capital Sins
There is no greater misery in the world, highest cliff, or deeper darkness than sin. Sin is any willful act that separates us from our communion with God.

If we, as human beings, were created by God and for Him, then sin keeps us from our own essence, the reason for our existence. It also deeply hurts our dignity and the heart of the Lord. Sin leads to the absence of God, and the absence of God is what we call hell.

There are "sins that engender other sins and other vices" (CCC 1866), which are, thus, called capital. They are: "pride, avarice, envy, wrath, lust, gluttony, and sloth" (CCC 1866). Let's examine each of these seven over two formations.
