Generation Healthy

Generation Healthy
A major concern of today's youth is physical appearance. We spend hours at the mall buying the best clothes, hours at the supermarket looking at the calories of each food, and if money wasn't a problem we would do several plastic surgeries. We discuss what to eat and not get ugly and what is good for our skin and hair. We are too concerned with our outer beauty and we don't take the time to look at our inside.

Health, however, goes far beyond eating well and looking good. What good it is to be beautiful when the soul is broken, bruised and crying for help? Sometimes we seek the solution of our problems in the wrong places, out in the world, not seeing that our true health is found in one place: the Church.

The world does not focus on the internal problems that many of us endure. We try to hide what happens in our lives in our outer beauty, but when we put our heads on the pillow to sleep, that external health is no longer enough; you find yourself trapped in your room with the same problems.

The help you need and the strength to fight against the obstacles of life will not come from nightclubs, medicines, clothing, makeup and plastic surgeries. Instead, you will sink in deeper and deeper. The only person who can give you wings to fly is Jesus. He can send the Holy Spirit to heal and restore the inner health that you need.

A person filled with the Spirit of God reflects light, peace, love and harmony, thus an attractive person full of health. And even when difficult times knock on your door, you will still be healthy and beautiful, for He will be with you.

St. John of the Cross says: "Do not run away from suffering, because in them is your health." That is, your health is in God. So do not let today's generation take care of you. Your place is in the church, close to our Savior.
